I'm a chartered accountant who leads statutory reporting, consolidation and finance automation across EMEA and North America, and I'm researching how blockchain will reshape finance.

Controllership

Group reporting and consolidation

Monthly, quarterly and year-end reporting under IFRS, UK GAAP and US GAAP. Intercompany accounting, statutory accounts and audit liaison for international groups.

Transformation

Finance systems and automation

Turning manual reporting into repeatable, controlled processes using Power BI, SQL, Python, Cognos Controller, Planning Analytics and SAP S/4HANA.

Technical & strategic

Hedging, M&A and complex accounting

Introduced hedge accounting for the first time in a multinational group. Supported acquisition, refinancing, integration and vendor due diligence work.

My story

I keep raising the bar, then use what I've learned to help others get there too.

  1. 2012 – 2014

    Island first, then highest scorer

    Ranked first in Sri Lanka in the Advanced Level Commerce stream (2012), then the highest scorer in my first university semester at the University of Sri Jayewardenepura.

  2. 2015 – 2016

    Helping others qualify

    The first-ever Student Brand Ambassador for AAT Sri Lanka, and later a developer of model papers for CIMA (UK) examinations.

  3. 2012 – 2019

    Building the technical base

    External audit at KPMG, then corporate finance and advisory at BDO: IFRS 9 and 15 implementation, financial due diligence and valuations. Graduated with a First Class BSc in Accounting (GPA 3.86).

  4. 2019 – 2023

    Range across sectors and countries

    Business analytics and strategy in higher education, then group financial accounting and reporting at a listed telecoms group. A UK MBA at Canterbury Christ Church, where my dissertation won the Best Dissertation Award.

  5. 2023 – Now

    Group finance in international live entertainment

    Managing consolidated reporting across countries, introducing hedge accounting for the first time, contributing to a major cross-border acquisition and refinancing, and automating reporting workflows.

  6. Today

    Chartered in the UK, researching what's next

    Admitted as an ACA with ICAEW in 2025, and working on a part-time PhD on blockchain technology and the future of finance.
